Iconic film: Gentlemen prefer blondes (1953)

¡Feliz lunes!

If you have never watched “Gentleman prefer blondes” you are missing a delicious, funny comedy and a spectacular musical full of lavishing costumes.

Directed in 1953 by Howard Hawks and starred by the bombshells Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell it tells the story of two friends that leave their village to find love and fame and follow their dreams. For Lorelei Lee (Marilyn Monroe) it is to marry a millionaire (her boyfriend Gus Esmond) while Dorothy Shaw (Jane Russell) is happy just finding true love. When they both sail to Paris (France) Gus’ father decide to send a detective to look after Lorelei’s behaviour with men (who becomes crazy when she meets a millionaire). But the detective falls in love with Dorothy and that gives cause to an endless of comic situations which make the film worth it to watch.

The wardrobe design was in charge on William Travilla who became one of Marilyn’s closest friend and not only dressed her in 8 films but also in her day-to-day. I’m sure you all remember the super famous and most copied pink drdess she’s wearing while she sings “Diamonds are a girl’s best friend”!!)

Well ladies, what do else need to watch it?
Happy Monday!

The film starts with this musical number where both are dressed in stunning red pailletes gowns

I love the contrast of yellow and turquoise with the black and white coat

"I love finding new ways for wearing my diamonds!!" Lorei says...

Have you seen this colours combination?? Amazing!!

Another espectacular night gowns

So Frenchie!!!

The most famous film dress in the world??? Mmmm...I'm not sure...

In my opinion this is the best scene of the film when Lorelei explain Gus' father why he wants to marry his son
